Starting on February 22, thanks to the 4th Boreali Nordic Festival, Milan city will change into a corner of Northern Europe for a total of four days. Events of all types will allow you to go on a cultural journey - both real and virtual – and discover Finland, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Sweden and Latvia.

The initiative from Feb. 22 to 25 offers an opportunity to raise awareness of the particularities and uniqueness of the Nordic countries and promote cultural exchange with Italy. The main protagonist of the festival is Nordic culture, in all its aspects: design, food, music, literature, and sustainability.

In this way, the event, which will involve a diverse audience in an active way, becomes an opportunity to discover firsthand the commonalities and differences that characterise the culture and values of the countries of Northern Europe.

The event, organised by the Iperborea publishing house, specialized since 1987 in spreading Nordic literatures in Italian, puts together musicians, writers and chefs, as well as numerous organisations and companies of those countries that share with visitors their ideas and their philosophy in an innovative and stimulating manner. A rich calendar of cultural events and entertainment that will continue until Feb.25.

Regarding Finland, some events affect it directly:

The Finnish writer Kjell Westö presents together with Luca Scarlini his latest novel Miraggio 1938 (Hägring 38) (Iperborea, 2017), Finlandia award and Nordic Council Award, a literary mystery that deals with friendship, redemption and revenge, in the Helsinki over the years '30s. The “17 books by Arto Paasilinna in 58 'and 30 "A show for words and music by and with Valerio Millefoglie inspired by the famous Finnish writer.

About the eccentric and tender family of Troll most famous in Northern Europe, is an event with the illustrator Felix Petruška entirely dedicated to the Mumin, the family of Finnish trolls loved by adults and children all over the world, born from the imagination of Tove Jansson.

An evening will be dedicated to Northern European music, with live performances by great artists and new discoveries of the Scandinavian music scene, in collaboration with Ceres Nørden and I Distratti: this year it will be on stage, among others, the MAN DUO, electro pair -pop visionary coming directly from Finland made by Jaakko Eino Kalevi and Long-Sam.

Two events concerning the Lapp people are also of particular interest:

Sápmi - the roof of Europe. The wonders of the Sámi people a meeting on the "wonders of the Sami people" with Anna Brännström and the award-winning film Sámi Blood (2017), by Swedish director Amanda Kernell, a journey in search of Sámi identity between rejection of one's own culture and the desire for a new life. During the Festival, the Italian branch of Storaenso company will join Iperborea on planting a poplar in a Milan park.
