A year following his death, a massive bronze sculpture of Italian actor Bud Spencer, born as Carlo Pedersoli in 1929, was undraped here Saturday amongst admiring fans.

The sculpture is the first full-body statue of the actor. It is 2.4-metres-high and weighs more than 500 kilograms.

"He was a unifier, who created a community of people by providing laughter and joy," said Major Mate Kovacs of the eighth district of Budapest where the statue was placed, adding "He was a good athlete, a good actor, a good husband and a good father."

The broad-shouldered and bearded actor died in June 2016.

"We are honored and grateful, the sculpture does justice to him, as he was large in his posture, in his passions and in his heart," Cristiana Pedersoli, Spencer's daughter, said at the event.

"My carrier would not have existed without my fans," she quoted his father.
