A group of people, who visited the Linnanmäki amusement park in Helsinki in late July, might have exposed others to coronavirus, said the City of Helsinki in a press release on Monday.

The suspected group of visitors were in the park from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on 26 July.

Helsinki City Chief Physician Timo Lukkarinen said the number of ticket sold on the day was quite high and people failed to maintain safe distance while waiting in queues that created the problem.

Linnanmäki amusement park Chief Executive Officer Pia Adlivankin apologised for the incident.

“Healthy atmosphere for entertainment in Linnanmäki is the priority to us. We apologise for the additional concern caused to our customers and it may affect the visitors,” said the CEO.

She pointed out that for this season they have limited the number of visitors to the park to almost half of the normal.

"We track visitor numbers in real time and throughout the season we have been able to keep the number of simultaneous visitors below 7,000. Moreover, we have taken serious measures to ensure healthy entertainment,” said Adlivankin, adding that the authorities from now on will be even more serious to maintain safe distance among the visitors.

The City of Helsinki suggested the visitors of that day to follow their own heath condition carefully and urged them to go for coronavirus test, if any symptoms are detected.

The chief physician of epidemiology at Sanna Isosomppi said there has been a clear delay in applying for tests in many cases, especially when the disease presents itself with abdominal symptoms. As a result, there will be more exposure. Overall, however, people are currently doing really well in the tests.
