Trade balance shows €530m surplus in January

The trade balance showed a surplus of 530 million euros in January, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade provided by Finnish Customs.

In January last year, the balance of trade showed a deficit of 200 million euros, said a press release.

The value of Finnish exports increased by 10 per cent while the value of imports decreased by three per cent in January year-on-year.

The value of Finnish exports in January was almost 5.8 billion euros and the value of imports was slightly under 5.3 billion euros.

Exports to EU member states increased by 16 per cent in January and exports to non-EU countries by two per cent.

Imports from EU-countries remained at the level of the previous year and imports from non-EU countries fell by eight per cent in January.
