Finland sees EUR 130m trade surplus in April

The value of Finnish exports increased by 20 per cent and the value of imports by nine per cent in April compared with the corresponding month of the year before, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs.

The value of Finnish exports in April was 5.5 billion euros and the value of imports was slightly under 5.4 billion euros. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports increased by 10 per cent and imports by six per cent, said a press release issued by Finnish Customs.

The trade balance showed a surplus of 130 million euros in April. Calculated from January to April there was a deficit of 565 million euros.

During the same period last year the balance of trade showed a deficit of 1.2 billion euros. Last year the trade balance for April showed a deficit of 370 million euros.

Exports to EU member states increased by 30 per cent in April and exports to non-EU countries by seven per cent. Imports from EU-countries increased by nine per cent and imports from non-EU countries rose by nine per cent as well in April.

Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU member states increased by 11 per cent and to non-EU countries by eight per cent. During the same period, imports from EU member states increased by seven per cent and from other countries by five per cent.
