Trade deficit eases to €150m in January

The balance of trade showed a deficit of 150 million euros in January 2018, according to the international trade in goods statistics provided by the Finnish Customs.

Last year the balance of trade showed a deficit of 535 million euros in January.

According to the preliminary statistics, the value of Finnish exports increased by 12 per cent and the value of imports by three per cent this January compared with the year before.

The value of Finnish exports in January was almost 5.2 billion euros and the value of imports was slightly over 5.3 billion euros.

Exports to EU member states increased by nine per cent and exports to non-EU countries by 16 per cent in January.

Imports from EU-countries increased by eight per cent while imports from non-EU countries fell by two per cent in January.
