The Ministry of Defence has authorised the Defence Forces to make a contract with Oy Kewatec AluBoat Ab on the supply of four new service boats, said the Ministry of Defence in a press release on Wednesday.

With the overall length of 19.2 metres, the boats are suitable for transporting the Defence Forces' material. Equipped with, for example, water jet propulsion and a deck crane, the design of the boats is based on an earlier boat model that was delivered to the Nordic countries.

The procurement includes options for five boats. The overall value of the contract, including the options, is EUR 12.8 million. The boats are scheduled to be delivered over 2022-2024.

Kewatec AluBoat is a Finnish shipyard with branches in Kokkola, Porvoo and Bergen, Norway. It employees approximately 100 people in Finland.
