Helsinki Shipyard said Wednesday that it has signed an order worth 150 million euros with Swan Hellenic, a British cruise line specializing in expedition tours of historical or cultural interest aimed at the upper end of the cruise market, reported Xinhua, quoting a press release.

According to a press release, the Helsinki Shipyard will deliver a five-star cruiser to the British cruise line in 2022.

The order is welcomed in Finland against the backdrop of the uncertainty faced by the international cruise industry due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Helsinki Shipyard said it is a "good signal" for the Finnish maritime industry.

The new cruise liner will be 125 meters long and will give luxury accommodations to only 192 guests, according to the Helsinki Shipyard.

In addition, the cruise liner will have an ice-strengthened hull to be able to operate also in high-latitude waters inaccessible to larger cruise liners. The cruiser will be a diesel-electric hybrid with selective catalytic reduction function.

Besides cruise ships, the Helsinki Shipyard, which was established in 1865, is also known as a maker for icebreakers.
