Old single-family house prices slide in Q2

Prices of old single-family houses fell by an average of 1.3 per cent in the second quarter of 2020 year on year, according to the Statistics Finland.

In Greater Helsinki, prices rose by 7.1 per cent and in the rest of the country they fell by 2.2 per cent.

Their prices increased by 2.5 per cent.

In the whole country, the average price per square metre for old single-family houses was EUR 1,597 in the second quarter. In Greater Helsinki, the average price per square metre was EUR 3,152. In the rest of the country, the average price per square metre was EUR 1,470.

In the second quarter, the prices of single-family house plots increased by 5.7 per cent in the whole country year on year.

From the previous quarter, prices of plots fell by 1.8 per cent. The average price per square metre for a single-family house plot was EUR 21.2 and the average size of plots sold was 2,909 square metres.

In the second quarter, around eight per cent fewer transactions of old single-family houses were made than in the corresponding period of last year.

In Greater Helsinki 16 per cent fewer transactions were made, in the rest of Finland nearly eight per cent less.
